It's All About The Dogs!

Click on the Blogger icon to read the newest post about having pets at Neighborhood Launch. It's the first of a two part blog, one on dogs, the other on cats.

One important takeaway is that Neighborhood Launch is situated just one block away from the only downtown dog park. The Columbus Downtown Dog Park, located at Spring and Fourth streets, is the only public off leash dog park in downtown Columbus.

This Friday, May 17, 2013, at 6 p.m., the nonprofit board the manages the park is holding its annual fundraiser, Bark & Brew. The event takes place at 165 N. Fourth Street and includes beer samples, a tour of the Elevator Brewing Company and a beer glass.  Stop by and support downtown's only dog park!

Gay Street Moonlight Market To Showcase Downtown District

Gay Street, in the middle of Downtown Columbus, is a true pocket of metropolitan spirit. Shops, restaurants and cafes line the street, making it the perfect spot for an evening market. With everything from vinyl records to jewelry and delectable desserts, the insurgence of business and entrepreneurial energy over the past ten years has made Gay Street a destination for the urban professionals who live just down the street and for those who want to experience the heart of the city.

The Moonlight Market series is the newest of events in the area, a series that aims to spark a new era of life on the street we already know and love.  The events will take place the second Saturday of each month beginning, April 13 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The monthly events continue through September.

The Moonlight Market will take place on the sidewalks of Gay Street between High and Third Streets. Sidewalk vendors include a wide variety of clothing retailers, bakers, artisans and more. Existing brick-and-mortar Gay Street businesses are also joining in, providing later hours of business and special offers. With illuminated building projections and ubiquitous live music, visitors can expect the Downtown hotspot to be transformed into a unique market bazaar with Columbus flair.

The storied history of Gay Street, with its late 19th and early 20th century brick and stone buildings, gives the District its classic character. Brick alleys and streetlight-trimmed sidewalks juxtapose vintage aesthetic against the fresh and enterprising shops, businesses, restaurants and residences that have chosen to call this charming street home.

Gay Street has seen a wealth of rebirth and renovation over the past decade. The dedicated business owners and volunteers behind the Moonlight Market hope to see this new monthly Downtown experience shed additional light on how far the area has come, and how far it most certainly will go.

“There’s so much happening on and adjacent to Gay Street,” says Mark Ballard, co-founder of Sugardaddy’s Sumputous Sweeties and Gay Street resident. “From CCAD and the Columbus Museum of Art to more than a dozen dining establishments, Gay Street is THE place to live, work and play.”

The Moonlight Market is produced by The Gay Street Collaborative with support from Capital Crossroads SID (Special Improvement District), Cement Marketing, Side Street Planning and CivitasNow. For more information visit www.moonlightmarketcolumbus.com.

Living Downtown Saves Time, Fuel & Money

Earlier this week, Texas A&M released its annual Transportation Urban Mobility Report.  Columbus ranked 25 in the country for commuter delays, spending roughly an additional 40 hours on the road each year due construction and weather.  The lost time cost the average Columbus commuter $847 a year for wasted time, not to mention the additional extra gas which averages $59 annually.

Now is the time to consider the values of living downtown at Neighborhood Launch:

  • A shorter commute means more time to spend time on hobbies, cooking, relaxing and socializing.
  • Driving your car less means you save gas.
  • Right-sizing your residence reduces your energy bills.
  • Save money by simplifying your life with less yard work and home maintenance.
  • Not to mention that walking to work and to other venues downtown is great exercise.

The time it took you to read this article is the time it will take for you to walk home to your new residence at Neighborhood Launch.  Call for a tour today at 614-280-0600!
